Your Vet Drives
The Tollway, Not You

Total Vet runs doctor-staffed vehicles across Dallas County, from the bungalow blocks of the M Streets to the wide lots of Preston Hollow. You lose an hour to Central Expressway either way — this way it isn't your hour, and your dog spends it asleep on the tile.

Mobile vet services in Dallas

The vehicle carries what an exam room carries. Book once and the following happens at your address, anywhere inside the LBJ loop and well beyond it.

Wellness Exams

Annual and semi-annual workups done on the floor or the countertop, with weight, dentition and joint scoring tracked visit over visit so small changes get caught early.

Vaccinations

Rabies plus the lifestyle series, matched to what your animal actually does — a dog logging laps at White Rock needs a different plan from a cat who never leaves Junius Heights.

Sick Visits

Vomiting that started overnight, a hot spot spreading under the collar, sudden reluctance on the stairs. Same-week appointments, worked up where the animal lives.

Diagnostics & Labs

Blood, urine, cytology and the annual heartworm test collected at the kerb and processed from the vehicle, with results explained by phone rather than a voicemail tag.

End-of-Life Care

Quality-of-life consultations and, when it is time, home euthanasia in the yard or the bedroom. No lobby, no last car ride, and aftercare arranged on your behalf.

Telehealth

Video follow-ups for current patients, which is often all a medication adjustment or a healing incision needs — and it costs you nothing in August asphalt.

Rig in the drive

From Oak Cliff to Lake Highlands, the practice comes to the address on your licence, which turns a half-day errand into an appointment you take in your own kitchen with the coffee still hot.

Why Dallas pet owners choose us

Traditional Clinic

  • Twenty minutes on Central just to travel four miles
  • A hot car park in July with a panting dog inside
  • Waiting rooms that stack three barking patients per bench
  • Taking half a day off to make a fifteen-minute slot
  • Explaining your pet's history to whoever is on shift

Total Vet Mobile Care

  • No merge onto 75, 30 or the Dallas North Tollway
  • Your animal stays on its own cool tile the whole time
  • One clinician who remembers last year's bloodwork
  • Arrival windows that fit around work, not against it
  • Paperwork and prescriptions handled before we leave

Caring for pets in Dallas

Dallas dogs live outdoors nine months of the year and hide from the other three. The heat is the health issue nobody plans for early enough, and the mosquito season effectively never closes.

Asphalt is the hazard

A Dallas pavement can run thirty degrees above the air temperature by mid-afternoon. Press the back of your hand to it for seven seconds; if you flinch, walk at dawn instead.

Prevention without a break

North Texas winters rarely stay cold long enough to end mosquito activity, so heartworm prevention runs all twelve months here. We test yearly and restock at the visit.

Room to run

The loop at White Rock Lake, the shaded stretch of the Katy Trail and the fenced acreage at Mockingbird Point keep city dogs in shape — and keep their vaccine records worth checking.

The chip is the licence

Dallas replaced annual pet registration with a microchip requirement for dogs and cats over four months, and your contact details must stay current. We can chip and register during the exam.

Questions Dallas pet owners ask us

Pick a room with a hard floor and reasonable light, and put the other animals somewhere else for twenty minutes. If you're in a gated community in Preston Hollow or a building with controlled access in Uptown, get us on the visitor list beforehand — that is the one thing that reliably costs us time.

Surgery and radiographs need a building, not a vehicle, so those go to established referral hospitals around Dallas and we forward the file so nothing is repeated. The workup beforehand and every recheck afterwards stay at your house with us.

It is, on effectively every carrier we deal with. You'll have an itemised invoice by email the same evening, coded the way insurers expect, and most claims go through without anyone asking a follow-up question.

That's the efficient way to use us. The travel component applies once per household, and additional pets are examined at a reduced rate. Three dogs in Lake Highlands takes one appointment and one invoice.

Not us — go directly to an emergency hospital. MedVet Dallas runs a 24-hour emergency service with critical-care capability, and VEG ER for Pets is also open continuously and takes walk-ins. Once your pet is stable, call us and we'll take over the aftercare.

Yes, on the spot, by card or phone wallet on the doctor's tablet. You'll have a receipt in your inbox before the vehicle pulls off your street.

Twenty-four hours, and there's no fee attached. Our routes are planned by geography — Oak Cliff and Kessler one day, Lakewood and Casa Linda the next — so telling us early means the appointment goes to someone else on the same side of town.

For a true after-hours emergency, MedVet Dallas and VEG ER for Pets both staff emergency clinicians every hour of every day and take walk-ins without an appointment — program both numbers before you ever need them.

"We have two large dogs and no realistic way to get both into a clinic at once. The vet handled them one after the other in our living room in Casa Linda, start to finish, in under an hour."
